Your questions, answered.

We know you have questions when choosing the right school, and we’re here to help! Here are some of the things parents often ask us:

The Bay Academy offers a progressive non-traditional route towards an NSC CAPS qualification in a beautiful and caring environment where every student feels he or she belongs.

A pathway is built around the individual learner. It considers a student’s strengths, interests, learning style, and long-term goals, then aligns subject choices, academic support, career exploration, and post-school preparation accordingly. This means learners are not just completing subjects, but understanding why they are taking them and how they connect to future study, careers, and life skills.

In short, a regular curriculum asks, “What must all students learn?”
Pathways ask, “Who is this student, and how do we best support their journey forward?”

Yes, your child will have homework, but it is purposeful and age-appropriate.

Homework is designed to reinforce learning, develop independence, and build good study habits rather than simply add workload. Depending on your child’s age and pathway, it may include revision, reading, research, project work, or preparation for assessments. As students get older, homework also helps them develop time-management and self-discipline skills that are essential for high school, tertiary study, and beyond.

The amount and type of homework are carefully balanced to support learning while still allowing time for rest, family, and extracurricular activities.

Yes, all our teachers are qualified, well-experienced, and passionate, with a deep care for students as individuals. They hold the appropriate teaching qualifications and are carefully selected for both their subject expertise and their ability to connect with and support each learner. In addition to formal qualifications, our teachers engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best educational practices.

Most importantly, they are committed to nurturing each child’s growth, wellbeing, and potential.

We offer a variety of extra-murals, including volleyball, padel, 5-a-side soccer, trail running, and muay thai. We proudly support students who are excelling in their chosen disciplines at both national and international levels, even outside of school.

Our flexible approach allows students to train seriously while staying fully engaged in school life, supported by both their teachers and peers.

Yes, children get daily physical activity. Physical Education is an integral part of the curriculum, and additional sports, such as volleyball, padel, 5-a-side soccer, trail running, and muay thai, are offered after school in the afternoons. This ensures students stay active, healthy, and engaged both during and beyond the school day.

At The Bay Academy, our school is guided by core values that shape everything we do. These include Perseverance, Integrity, Courage, Empathy, and Self-control. Alongside these, we focus on unlocking every child’s potential, providing exceptional learning environments, partnering with parents, and delivering a world-class education. These values ensure students grow academically, socially, and personally, preparing them for life with confidence and purpose.

Yes, your child can work towards a National Senior Certificate (NSC) at our school.

Our curriculum is designed to meet all the requirements for the NSC, while also offering personalised pathways that align with your child’s strengths, interests, and future goals. This means your child not only completes the necessary subjects for graduation but is also supported with guidance, subject choices, and preparation for tertiary study or career opportunities.

“We want every parent to feel informed, supported, and confident in our shared journey.”
