We nurture each child’s love of learning and support them in reaching their personal best. By placing the child at the centre of the learning experience, we help develop their intellectual, physical, emotional and creative potential. We meet individual needs while fostering cooperation, community and a strong sense of belonging.

For self-directed learning to occur, the whole learning environment – the physical space, learning materials, and social climate – must support the learner.
The Directress provides the necessary resources and opportunities for children to function in a safe and positive environment. The Directress thus gains the children’s trust, which enables them to try new things and build self-confidence.
Bringing the world to life
The “Great Lessons”
These are the core of our Primary School culture learning area. Our culture learning area (comprising of biology, science, history & geography etc.) acts as a linking element between the other different learning areas (mathematics, language, etc.), enabling us to offer an integrated curriculum.
The Great Lessons are an essential part of the Montessori Primary Curriculum. They appeal to the children’s imagination, and impart new facts that the child is motivated to explore further. Their curiosity is awakened as they are inspired by new ideas, awed by the world around them and enthused by the human potential.
There are Five Great Lessons that are told to the children near the beginning of each year in Primary School. The stories give a general overview on five topics, and provide the children with the keys to knowledge that enable them to launch into more distinctive learning that interests them personally.
Each year, children are introduced to the Five Great Lessons, which provide a broad understanding of key concepts and open the door to deeper, self-directed learning:
- The Coming of the Universe and Earth
- The Coming of Life
- The Coming of Human Beings
- The Story of Language
- The Story of Numbers
Throughout the year, teachers refer back to these stories, helping learners connect new knowledge across subjects and experience a truly integrated curriculum.

Growing emotional and intellectual awareness
Sensitive periods in primary
Children between 6 and 12 move through key sensitive periods for social development, imagination, justice, culture and understanding the wider world. Our Primary School provides a prepared environment and guided support to help them explore these stages with confidence and purpose.
Learning to live and grow together
Social development
Primary children seek connection and collaboration. This is a key time for building teamwork, resolving conflict, forming friendships, and balancing personal needs with those of the group.
Using imagination to understand the world
Imagination
Children use imagination to make sense of facts and ideas. Stories play a central role in learning, which is why the Five Great Lessons are foundational to our culture curriculum.
Developing fairness, empathy and responsibility
Justice and morals
At this age, children want things to be fair and seek to understand the reasons behind rules and consequences. They explore character, choices, and how their actions affect others.
A Montessori Environment for Primary
What we offer
We offer an authentic Montessori environment for children aged 6–12, grouped into mixed-age Junior Primary (6–9) and Senior Primary (9–12) classes. This approach supports natural social and academic growth.
Learning in Montessori follows cycles, not a linear path. Our educators guide each child to develop their full potential — academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually — while nurturing a love of learning, self-awareness and respect for others.
The teacher
In Primary, the Montessori teacher—called a Directress—acts as a guide and facilitator. She supports children in following their interests and natural curiosity, encouraging autonomy in their learning.
The Directress prepares the environment, models respectful behaviour, observes each child’s development, and partners with parents to nurture growth. She sees every child as unique and supports them with care, clarity and purpose.
A holistic curriculum
Our Montessori curriculum supports the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively. Using concrete materials and a three-year learning cycle, we help children grow in confidence, independence and joy in learning. Activities develop social skills, emotional resilience, coordination and strong academic foundations.
The prepared environment
Self-directed learning thrives in a well-prepared environment. Each space—its materials, layout and social climate—supports children to feel motivated and engaged.
Montessori classrooms follow “freedom within limits,” with ground rules created by the community each year. These shared agreements build respect, responsibility and a sense of belonging.
Lunches
Our lunch programme reflects our values and is prepared with care by our kitchen team. Meals are served in the classroom in a homely, family-style way, with children helping to dish up and wash dishes. They enjoy wholesome, home-cooked meals with colourful “rainbow foods” each day. We use free-range meats and organic ingredients where possible, and we cater for special dietary needs.

Primary
As part of the Montessori Primary (6 -12 years) program, children are given lessons in small groups. Follow-up activities are not assigned, but rather children are encouraged and supported to come up with their own project ideas, research questions, and then complete the work they have chosen. Providing students with the freedom to plan, initiate, and solve problems nurtures their sense of responsibility. In a Montessori community children take an active role in their learning as opposed to passively participating, which promotes curiosity, creativity, and retention of knowledge through meaningful experiences.
