Mandy is a qualified educator with many years of experience teaching across the primary years, including Grades 1 to 7. She brings a strong background in classroom teaching, STEAM, and art education, with a clear focus on hands-on, student-centred learning.
Mandy is trained in Inquiry-Based and Project-Based Learning and holds a qualification in Reggio Emilia education, which places emphasis on children’s agency, self-worth, and natural curiosity. She also holds a recent qualification from the University of Cape Town in Technology in Education, further strengthening her ability to design engaging, relevant learning experiences.
Her teaching philosophy aligns closely with The Bay Academy’s Montessori approach, particularly the principle of freedom within limits. Mandy values environments that respect each child’s individual potential while encouraging independence, collaboration, and critical thinking. She is especially passionate about connecting learning to nature and using the natural environment as a meaningful context for exploration and discovery in the 9–12 classroom.
